Five Sustainable Ways to Upgrade Your Space Without a Renovation

Updated: Apr 30, 2020

1. Lighting

Choose a fabulous lamp for your floor and table. I personally prefer lamp lighting to overhead lighting. I find it cozier and it builds character. Go online and look for a deal, head to your favorite antique store, or go to your local lighting store and find unique lighting solutions that's made locally.

2. Window Treatments

Find a fabric that makes you swoon and get custom drapery made using organic cotton, bamboo, linen, or recycled poly. If that is out of your budget, try West Elm, Pottery Barn, or Ikea for sustainable window treatment solutions.

3. Wall Color or Wallpaper

I love Benjmain Moore Paints. They have beautiful inspiring colors. Also, you can play around with different colors with their See In Room Technology. Try Burke Decor for fun eco-friendly wallpaper.

4. Hardware

For sustainable hardware try Rocky Mountain Hardware for custom and pre-fab hardware options. For unique hardware that's made in the US, try Colonial Bronze. It's affordable and they have hundred of options.

5. Accessories

For your sustainable accessory solutions try Armadillo for rugs. They have a beautiful selection of natural and sustainably sourced rugs. Parachute is another one of my favorite companies. This L.A. based company cares about creating beautiful, safe, sustainable products for the home. You can stop by their shop on Armitage in Chicago!
